Fairly simple in terms of like what problem did you see in the modern military operations and the training that convinced you that 1415 needed to exist?

Yeah, so I guess the genesis, 1415 Industries came about with four friends.

So we're 4 co-founders, started probably over 2 years ago, and it basically was born out of the war in Ukraine, I would say like a lot of probably startups.

we come from a background of defense, national security, all the four of us, some are still reservists.

But basically, we were looking at the lessons and what was going on in Ukraine through, open source Twitter, an amazing feed of information telegram.

But for us, we noticed the trend of everyone's obsessed with drones.

You know, you're now seeing this in the West, everyone.

is all about drones and also finding and detecting drones.

The thing we noticed, the real issue or problem set was you're now getting very tactical levels of detectors on both sides of the war in Ukraine.

So Russia and Ukraine, because the threat is so large, every soldier is almost a center.

They have portable drone detectors.

That was really interesting for us because we weren't seeing that in the West.

And we basically thought, how can we manipulate those or how can we affect an adversary who's now got a heightened level of drone detection?

So we set up 14, 15 industries with the idea that we could create a system that could influence those tactical drone detectors.

You can use that for survivability to offset where they might be looking, equally for lethality so you can use it to keep their heads down while you've sold a trench.

they're doing something very clever, but we want to stay ahead and influence those new systems, kind of like the countermeasuring cycle, really.

Yeah, I mean, you said something there which I really, really resonate with when you said that every soldier is a censor because it was something I used to say to my Marines.

going back like 15, 16 years ago, because I like that theory whereby every soldier in your stack or in your group actually had a set of eyes and ears and senses about them that could actually sense the things that you as a, as a troop commander couldn't sense, because you can't be, you're thinking,

You're trying to think literally like 2 weeks ahead, two days ahead, you're trying to think of what happens if so-and-so goes down with, the Valon or anything else.

And actually, it made, it took off that cognitive load when you said to everyone, like, you know, you're a sensor, if you see something which you don't think is right or needs to be flagged up, you know, like you've got

The other part of what you said there was, so I remember I remember deploying to Mosul back in 2018 as a consultant, and this was back when IS were using drones more as a to coordinate their kind of vehicle-borne IEDs onto the forward line of troops, and it was more of a more of a obviously a passive passive sense then, but that was that was you know eight years ago now, and obviously

with the war in Ukraine starting just a few years after that, we've obviously seen a huge evolution in the way that drones have been used, weaponised and used, to really devastating effect.

And one thing we'll definitely bring out later on is something that came out in the Wall Street Journal a few days ago, and that was Exercise Hedgehog out in Estonia, where

a small group, I think 10 Ukrainians managed to take out two battalions of kind of NATO, which we definitely want to dive into.

You see it, you probably remember the days where you had CBRN kits and, the sort of bits of paper that would detect any sort of chemical that, was a presence and a threat to the soldier.

Obviously, a real lessons learned for Western and NATO troops when they're operating against people who've lived, you know, an invasion for the last so many years.

The challenge for us is probably to, take what has been demonstrated in Ukraine, bring them back to the UK and make the training as realistic.

Because there's always the thing in the back of my head where, you know, you have that system, you have a BFA on, there's probably a small bit of you that goes, well, this isn't real, so I can, you know, sort of jump around and, you know, there's no real consequences here.

But I think if we start to put pressure on the soldier where they don't know, it's not real in a sense.

That's probably as realistic as we can make that without, you know, scaring people basically.
